AHL6 - ‘Minors’ Major Impact In Win Over Crokes

Castleknock 3-18 Kilmacud Crokes 3-14

It took a late goal from Minor David Bohan to settle Castleknock nerves after Kilmacud Crokes had whittled down the home team’s apparently unassailable lead to just 1 point going into the final minutes of this AHL game in Somerton on Sunday morning (May 19th).

The Castleknock scoring star was another Minor, Cian Boyle, with the No.13 hitting a mammoth 1-12 of the home total.

At the interval Castleknock led by 2-10 1-7 and with 14 minutes left the margin was still 6 points 2-13 1-10 before that late Crokes surge threatened to snatch an unlikely Kilmacud victory. It was then David Bohan struck for that ‘killer’ goal and the defence, with Brian Carter in fine form, repulsed some dangerous Crokes attacks to make the 2 points safe.

Castleknock: Joe Murray; David McInerney; Cian Kelly; Paul Prunty; Brian Carter; Mark Linehan; Luke McCann; Rob Wylie; Aaron Cunningham; Shane Coffey (1-1); David Bohan (1-0) ; Cian Boyle (1-12); Brian Hughes (0-4); Luke Gubbins (0-1). Bench: Eoin Conway; Peter Balfe; Hugh Hogan; Conall Dillon.

Next Up: Castleknock next travel to Pope John Paul II Park on May 28th to play Naomh Fionnbarra, the team with whom they now share the top of the Div.6 table.

AHL3 – Castleknock Maintain League Challenge

Castleknock 2-14 Naomh Mearnog 0-16

Castleknock wore down table toppers Naomh Mearnog in the second-half of this AHL Div.3 to record a comfortable enough 4 points victory in Somerton on Saturday evening (May 18th).

Castleknock’s  lead at half-time was only one point (1-7 0-9) but it never looked likely that the Portmarnock outfit would catch them in the remaining 30 minutes.

Next Up: A visit to Monastery Road on May 29th to play new table-toppers Round Towers.
