SONAS, based locally in Dublin 15, provides services for victims of domestic violence. We are all aware that in these difficult times of restricted movement, these services are in higher demand than ever. This year in Dublin 15, SONAS expect to #AnswerTheCall from over 300 women and children.

The emergency help number is (01) 866 2015

This year is also the 10 year anniversary of the refuge as the service opened at the end of May 2010. SONAS had hoped to mark the occasion with a celebration but this has had to be put on hold for obvious reasons.

Castleknock Hurling and Football Club is the biggest community-based sporting organisation in Dublin 15. Following the heroics of our Ladies Footballers over the long weekend in May, this June Bank Holiday weekend, the men of the Adult Section intend to lead the whole club in marking the 10 year anniversary of SONAS with a show of solidarity and support by walking, running or cycling 3000 km, which is 10 km for each of those 300 women and children forced to seek safety from SONAS last year.
The whole club, both Adult and Juvenile Sections, members and non-members, are invited to assist us complete 3,000 km of activity over the June Bank Holiday weekend. To participate, all you need to do is don your club colours and walk, run or cycle any distance you can. Post the distance of your activity to any of the club’s Social Media channels with the hashtag #AnswerTheCall, and tag the club, or in the case of juveniles, ask your parents do so or inform your mentors. Of course photos are more than welcome but not essential.

As a GAA club rooted in our community, let’s publicly support those who suffer in private.
