U12 & U13 Girls enjoy a great trip to Castlepollard
31 March 2006

A trip to Castlepollard planned for before Christmas and cancelled due to weather finally got underway on Saturday the 25th of March. We had 28 girls traveling, all played U12's last year, after the trip the girls will be split into U12's and U13's for this years football season.
After a round-the-world trip, we finally arrived at Ballycomoyle grounds just outside Castlepollard. We decided to play two matches, U12's and U13's. Each team had 12 a side and four of our girls played for the host team, Orlaith Darcy, Kim Lynch for the U12 team and Aishling Teehan and Emer Spain for the U13 team.
The U12's played first and we had an early lead with a goal from Roisin Walsh, Ballycomoyle scored the next goal by our own Orlaith Darcy. Both teams played a great match and Castleknock's Rebecca scored another goal, with points coming from Ayesha, Emma and Rebecca. The final score was Castleknock 2-06 Ballycomoyle 2-04

The U13's finally got their chance to get onto the pitch, which had been warmed up nicely by the U12's. Castleknock took an early lead with a point from Ciara, but Ballycomoyle fought back with a couple of points. The second half saw Ballycomoyle in the lead, which they extended with a goal, Castleknock managed to score a goal by Ayesha, (who played both games) but Ballycomoyle had the game won. The final score was Ballycomoyle 1-04 Castleknock 1-01
Castleknock U13: Emma Byrne, Amy Creaner, Grace Hegarty, Niamh Keogh, Ciara Maguire, Nicole Rock, Rachel Rush, Emer Spain, Amie Sullivan, Aisling Teehan, Kate Ward, Simone Fagan, Aoife Reidy

We quickly got the girls back onto the bus as food had been arranged in McCormacks of Castlepollard for 4.00pm. A great spread was laid on for the girls, mentors and bus driver by our hosts Ballycomoyle. A huge thanks has to go to Helen Coyle of Ballycomoyle who arranged the day with Anne Walsh.
The hospitality shown to us by Ballycomoyle was fantastic, the girls had a great day out and did the Club proud, and we hope that some day we will be able to extend the same hospitality shown to us by Ballycomoyle in Castleknock.
