Covid-19 Communications for GAA Clubs

(13 Mar 2020)

Dear member,

Further to my email on Covid-19 issued on 11 March 2020, you will all be aware of the updated guidance from Central Government as set out in the Taoiseach's Press Briefing this morning. Various section chairs, mentors and others have provided advice and guidance throughout the day regarding matches, training and social gatherings.

The attached reflects the official GAA community response and we will, of course, be guided by that advice and the advice from the HSE, Health Authorities and central Government generally.

This is a very serious health issue facing our country and in particular the most vulnerable members of our communities. We are in a fight and we will, in good GAA fashion, give a good account of ourselves, in support of our members and the wider community.

As well as cancelling all training, matches etc.over the referenced period, the club has postponed all social and other events associated with the club. This includes any planned meetings and events in our clubhouse up to and including 29th March 2020.

Immediately impacted is our Lotto pub sales team, which we are standing down for the next three draws 12 March, 19 March and 26 March 2020. The draws will take place as normal, with all registered members included in the draws.

In addition, the Adult Awards Night, scheduled for next Monday, 16th March 2020 is postponed.

If the central advice advice changes, we will be in touch with members. In the meantime, I urge everyone to do their bit to slow the spread of this disease. The advice on hand washing and personal hygiene is still the best defence.

Keep safe and well.

Sean McLaughlin
CHFC Secretary.
