Dublin GAA launch Dubs Health Week, with 5 days of online talks on a variety of topics, from March 1st.

Topics include:

  • staying motivated
  • Mental health
  • Inclusivity and more!














Talk 1 – March 1st

Dr Colman is a child and adolescent psychotherapist with St Patrick's Mental Health Services, and an Assistant Professor in UCD. 

His talk will provide attendees with strategies on how to keep ourselves, and those who depend on us, going as we reach the finishing line of this very difficult time. We are all hitting a wall and are hoping Colman will help us over it!!

Talk 2 – March 2nd

Shane Carthy, recently launched his book, DARK BLUE The Despair Behind the Glory – My Journey Back from the Edge. Shane shares details of his journey, which is sure to be inspiring for all who attend this Dub Health Week event.

Dr Tom Clonan is an equality campaigner, tireless disability advocate and commentator on justice and ethics in Irish public life. He will share his perspectives on inclusivity, his experiences abroad and his work championing for equality, with Geraldine McTavish, GAA Diversity and Inclusion Officer, on working towards a ‘GAA For All’ .

Talk 4 – March 4th

Dr Mark Ward, a Senior Research at the Irish Longitudinal Study of Ageing (TILDA) and mentor with Na Fianna, and Mr Oliver Keating, of Westmeath GAA and Mullingar Shamrocks GAA club, who delivers the volunteer module of the GAA Leadership Development course.  They deliver presentations on the benefits of volunteering, and being an effective volunteer.

Mr Niall Turner, Chair of Dublin Health & Wellbeing committee and Mr Daithi O’hAolain, Healthy Club Oficer, provide insights into the benefits of being a member of a community club such as the GAA. Given that Social Rounders may be a good avenue for this, for people of all ages and sporting abilities, advice and tips are provided on how to establish Social Rounders in your club.
