Match Report – 2nd April, 2017 - U9 girls

On Sunday April 2nd, the Castleknock 2008 Girls (U9) hosted Kilmacud Crokes in an All-County group small-sided games football blitz. Four castleknock teams descended on Porterstown Park and the enthusiasm was fantastic. After a somewhat giddy warm-up, the girls settled well into their games and truly showed the opposition what we are made of. Our girls fought for every ball, chased every opponent down and shadowed and tackled with gusto. There was plenty of good kicking, hand passing, soloing and scoring. The teams were all very well matched – we were pushed hard, but challenged back equally well. The scores were high all round and we had countless near misses too – going just wide or being saved by goalkeepers, but the attempts were plentiful and that's what counts!

The Blue team had good performances from Mia B and Amy W in the backs whilst Emma W and Orla G put in a Trojan effort playing well in midfield along with Ava G, Grace M, Freya C and Grace O’G who all got important scores.

The Yellow Team had star performers in Millie P, Katie D and Jessica R who all won lots of balls in the backs. Kate D, Katie O’T worked hard around the middle whilst lots of scores from Aoibhe O’C and Ruby B ensured some high scoring games. A special mention to Tara K who started her first ever game for Castleknock today.

The Red Team had a little setback at the start when Edith K got a foot injury but she went into goals and had a stormer of a game. There were some mighty performances from Aisling V, Sarah K and Mia B in the backs who broke up many Kilmacud attacks whilst Aisling D and Kayla O’C played well when in midfield and worked very hard. Up front, Lily M and Sophie M got some great scores as well as working very hard for every ball.

The Green Team had excellent performances from Fallon D and Katie H who was kicking with both feet (go on Katie!!). Alyssa McC and Sumer C who are getting better with every game did brilliantly in the backs and Cara W who gets better and better at taking her four steps every time had a super game. The scoreboard was kept ticking over with some terrific performances and scores from Emily B, Amy B and Leia R keeping the team in the game at all times.
