Third Team Hurlers Record Big Championship Win

(16 May 2019)

Junior ‘F’ Hurling Championship – Castleknock 5-17 Civil Service 0-4

A total of 5-8 from the full-forward line of Gerry Mulryan, Kieran Dwyer and Hugh Feeney set Castleknock Third team up for a first Championship win of the year against Civil Service in Somerton (May 16th).

Castleknock’s opening goal was a real delight coming from a Jamie Bradshaw lob from midfield, touched on by Kieran Dwyer and finished to the net by Gerry Mulryan before the Civil Service defence or indeed the watching crowd even realised what was happening.

Enda Shields quickly tagged on two points before full-forward Kieran Dwyer cut loose. In the last 12 minutes of the first-half he scored a 1-4 and with Paul Hamill landing two 65’s Castleknock were well out of sight at the break leading by 3-10 0-3.

The second-half produced more of the same. Gerry Mulryan’s low shot brought his third goal of the evening and then it was Hugh Feeney’s turn to shine. He scored 1-2, added to by points from Sean Kennedy, Paul Hamill and hard-working substitute Óisín Murphy-O’Kane to give Castleknock a comprehensive 28-point win.
